For Affix designer Cliff, father-son bonding sparked an innovative product idea. Cliff’s son took up golf at the age of ten and quickly caught the bug. By the age of 14, he had a solid game – and a strong grasp of rules and etiquette on the course.
Great game, shame about the green
One small-but-annoying issue? They were regularly finding ball marks on the green, disrupting the flow of the game. Always respectful of the rules and other players, Cliff’s son wanted to do his duty and clean up the green. This meant lots of running back to the golf bag – or cart – to fetch the divot tool. Sick of this interrupting every single game, Cliff started to think about a better way.
A smart little solution
The solution: Cliff designed a smart divot tool that could be attached to the shaft of a putter. It was always on hand and top of mind, eliminating the frustrating tool hunt and giving golfers no excuse for leaving the green a mess. After two years of testing prototypes with his son, Cliff got a patent, came up with a name, and launched the Affix brand.
